This post is to be a mountain Medicine themed post and will be aimed at those who have an interest in wilderness/expedition medicine. On top of this it will provide a good rounding of front door medicine, this would be attractive clinically to those possibly interested in acute care, T&O and primary care.
The innovative element will be the mountain medicine component, this is envisaged at taking up 10 days per block on-top of PDT/SL and will involve 3 elements:
• A funded expedition medicine course (cost approx. £1000) e.g. Expedition and Wilderness Medicine
• Time supporting experienced mountain rescue doctors in casualty care training to MRT volunteers.
• Time spend on the emergency departments mountain medicine project providing feed back to MRT volunteers and doing research, such as Mountain Medicine
